NSDTA Announces 2021 Award Winners E ach year, the National Staff Development and Training Association (NSDTA) recognizes leaders in health and human services training and organizational development. NSDTA is proud to announce the 2021 award recipients.
Human Services . They have developed a video “Child Abuse and Neglect—What are the Warning Signs?” to educate families and communities about the signs of child abuse and neglect and how they can help. This video was critical within the past year as face-to-face contact within schools and medical services lessened in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. University’s Child Welfare Partnership . Portland State University used their imagina tion and existing technology to try to recapture some of what they felt was lost in the transi tion to online training through the development of a dual smart board model classroom. Distinguished Service inTraining Award This award recognizes an individual in the training and organizational development field who represents excellence and professionalism in health and human services training through their leadership skills, mentoring, coaching, and advancement of training as a method of bringing positive change to the field. NSDTA is proud to award Jay Jackson , The second recipient of the 2021 Technology Innovation Award is Portland State
QualityTraining Program Award This award recognizes the development and implementa tion of a cutting edge, innovative training approach or a variation of a traditional practice. This year, NSDTA recognizes two recipients for the Quality Training Program Award. The first recipient of the 2021 Quality Training Program Award is the Center on Children, Families and the Law at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln , recog nizing an amazing university partnership and collaboration, including multidisciplinary subject matter experts, simula tions, computer labs, and training in which staff can practice its testimony prior to going to court. The second recipient of the 2021 Quality Training Program is the State of
Georgia’s Division of Family and Children Services . They developed an innovative Supervisor Mentoring Program throughout the state for super
visors within the Division of Family and Children’s Services that not only benefits the participants, but the communities served as well.
Director of Career Partnerships with Hopeworks Camden, in New Jersey. Through Jay’s work and lead ership, Hopeworks Camden has done an incredible job infusing trauma-informed prac tices while advancing training and workforce support for older youth.
