Policy & Practice | Fall 2023

Overview of the Initiative Anticipated Outcomes As a result of the work that will be accomplished over the course of this initiative, we anticipate the following outcomes: 1. The establishment of a committed cross-sector network of support to promote the implementation of alignment efforts by states identified as potential early adopters. 2. A guiding strategy, framework, and resources to enable action toward systems alignment so that all collaborators are prepared to transition from the current to a future state of alignment. 3. Equip APHSA, NASWA, and their memberships with a strategy and action plan for adopting the tech Strategy and Timeline APHSA and NASWA will design a robust collaborator engagement strategy to guide its approach over the course of the project. To comprehen sively and strategically map current data and system modernization nical assistance roadmap and implementing systems changes.

efforts, we will develop and publish a landscape scan. In cooperation with teaming partners, APHSA and NASWA will explore current and future state customer journey maps to document how individuals and families navigate access to benefits and supportive services within and across health, human services, and labor agencies. APHSA, NASWA, and other identi fied collaborators will co-design a roadmap for data and system integra tion across health, human services, and labor agencies. The roadmap will be informed by cross-sectional insights garnered throughout the project period. For additional information about this initiative, or to become involved in our collaborator engagements, please reach out to APHSA.

collaborators spanning all levels of government began to come together in early 2023 and will continue to expand our collaborator engagement through 2024. Critically, the project teams will center customer perspectives and experiences in this roadmap. To collaborate authentically with cus tomers who are most impacted by misalignment across the human services ecosystem, the project team will identify and recruit customers to co-create current state and desired future-state journey maps to visualize how families navigate access to benefits and services across health, human services, and labor agencies. The project’s final output—our co-created national roadmap—will establish a guiding strategy and resources to enable collaborators to transition focus toward supporting individuals and families along their path to economic mobility. The project will culminate in a joint convening in 2024, where the outcomes and plans for alignment captured in our roadmap will be presented and vali dated before publication.
