Being a member of St. Mary’s invites our students into a wonderful mix of faith, scholarship, and community. For many students our athletics programs are an essential part of that community, and their participation helps to form them as men and women of faith-filled character. As educators, coaches, and parents,

we believe in our students and know that St. Mary’s can help them strive to accomplish far more than they thought possible. This is what we describe when we call ourselves the Saints, and I am inspired by the ways our entire community embraces this identity. For all these reasons I am proud to cheer: Go Saints!

Principal’sWelcome

Welcome to St. Mary’s High School, the Home of the Saints! St. Mary’s is a unique, Catholic, college-preparatory parish high school with a rich history and a bright future, located in the heart of downtown Annapolis on the banks of Spa Creek. Built on a solid foundation that began with the Redemptorists and was guided by the charism of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, we aspire to nurture our students to be servant leaders in the twenty-first century. During the special moments of high school, our young men and women take risks and try new experiences to learn more about the gifts and talents God provided each one of them. It is St. Mary’s mission to serve our students along this journey of academic, social, physical, and spiritual formation. Through our dedication to developing the entire child; mind, body, and spirit, we ensure our students live the best academic experience possible, while also having opportunities to participate in athletics, Clubs, and other extracurricular activities. Demonstrating our commitment to faith, we have an active Campus Ministry that guides our community to recognize Christ in others and to include God in our lives, no matter our walk of faith. The experienced, committed, and talented faculty and staff of St. Mary’s High School take pride in embracing every student as an individual and guiding each student to reach the fullness of his or her potential as individuals in God’s image. The athletic department, under the leadership of Allison Fondale, provides our students with various opportunities to learn, play, and grow through interscholastic competition. The Saints rise to the challenge to lead by example on and off the field, showing their dedication, courage, and integrity in all that they do. Thank you for supporting our students throughout this season and the remainder of this school year. Go Saints! Welcome to St. Mary’s athletics and our boys and girls lacrosse programs! At St. Mary’s our student-athletes, coaches and staff strive for excellence in everything they do. Success at St. Mary’s requires the highest level of commitment and work ethic not only on the field but in the classroom and in the community. Our goals are to develop strong athletes, students, and leaders. We were blessed in the fall of 2017 with the opening of the St. Mary’s Team and Ministry House located adjacent to Pascal Field, our practice and game field. Located there are a state of the art training room and weight room, boys and girls locker rooms, a coaches and officials locker area as well as team meeting space and a balcony overlooking the field. This facility demonstrates St. Mary’s true commitment to excellence. It certainly is an exciting time to be a Saint! Our lacrosse programs are led by St. Mary’s alumni and former Division One lacrosse players, Mindy Jones and Victor Lilly. Coach Jones played at the University of Maryland and is now in her fourth year leading our girls program. Coach Lilly played at Towson University and is in his fifth year at the helm of our boys program. Both programs compete in the highly competitive IAAM and MIAA A Conference, arguably the best lacrosse conferences in the country. We look forward to seeing you and supporting our teams this season! When coaches Ed Coughlin and C. Mason “Daffy” Russell turned a first-year high school lacrosse team loose in the Spring of 1950, a tradition of excellence came alive at St. Mary’s High School in the heart of Annapolis. Led by Captain James “Tick” Coughlin and future All-Americans Jimmy Keating, Hezzy Howard and Vardie Dyer, the 1950 Saints came together to win the Private School Division of the Maryland Scholastic Association. We celebrate the young men and coaches that started it all - The St. Mary’s Saints of 1950. Their story and their names will live forever. The St. Mary’s Lacrosse Family never forgets where we came from, and our proud tradition continues.
