VARSITY GIRLS SENIORS

20 Maya Morahan Defense

Maya Morahan is a Senior defender for the Saints, and has been a member of the Varsity team since her Junior year. In the summers, Maya played for the Maryland United lacrosse club. Maya is an Iron Saint – which typically means that a student participates in three sports during each year of high school. In Maya’s case, however, she participated in the most athletic events in the history of St. Mary’s: she participated in four sports, all four years. In the Fall, Maya played volleyball for St. Mary’s; she was on JV as a Freshman and Sophomore, and Varsity for her Junior and Senior years, and was elected Captain as a Senior. In the Winter, Maya juggled both basketball and swimming all four years. She played JV basketball as a Freshman, and Varsity for her Sophomore through Senior years, and was elected Captain this past season. In her Junior year, Maya was a member of the IAAM “B” Conference Championship basketball team. Upon entering St. Mary’s, Maya was a recipient of the Redemptorist Scholarship and Neumann Scholarship. While at St. Mary’s, Maya has consistently been on Principal’s Honor Roll, maintaining a 4.4 GPA. She is a member of the National Honor Society (currently the Vice President) and National Spanish Honor Society. Maya participates in CHAMPS, One Love Club, Morgan’s Message, Stock Market Club, Caleb Cares Foundation, UNICEF, Spanish Club, the Thomas Manion Foundation and Weightlifting Club. Maya is a member of SAIL and was elected Captain of the Captains. Outside of school, Maya volunteers with tutoring, Toys for Tots, and summer sports camps. In her spare time, Maya enjoys exercising, boating, skiing and scuba diving. Maya is still considering her college options, as she waits to hear back from a few more schools! Maya has been a great leader on the defensive end for the last two seasons. She is a strong 1v1 defender and is very skilled with and without the ball. Her extraordinary quickness and an aptitude for reading the opposing offense helps our team in the defensive end. Good luck, Maya!’ - St. Mary’s Girls Lacrosse
