4-12 Smoking
Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes and vaping, is prohibited on Agency premises and in clients’ homes .
4-13 Personal Visits & Telephone Calls
Disruptions during work time can lead to errors and delays. Therefore, personal telephone calls must be kept to a minimum, and only be made or received after working time, or during lunch or break time.
4-14 Confidential Company Information
During the course of work, employees may become aware of confidential information about Vital Sign Home Care's business, including but not limited to information regarding Agency finances, pricing, services, software and computer programs, marketing strategies, suppliers and clients and potential clients. Employees also may become aware of similar confidential information belonging to the Agency's clients. It is extremely important that all such information remain confidential, and particularly not be disclosed to Vital Sign Home Care's competitors. Any employee who improperly copies, removes (whether physically or electronically), uses or discloses confidential information to anyone outside of the Agency may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination. Employees may be required to sign an agreement reiterating these obligations. Wages and other conditions of employment are not considered to be Confidential Information. This policy is not intended to restrict an employee’s right to disc uss, or act together to improve, wages, benefits and working conditions with co- workers or in any way restrict employees’ rights under the National Labor Relations Act. Employees are required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement as a condition of employment. Employees who improperly use, copy or disclose confidential care recipients’ information will be subject to disciplinary action, including termination of employment. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) protects the patient's private health information. Its objective is to maintain the privacy of protected health information including in electronic format and writing. While employed with us, you will come into contact with confidential health information. Preserving the confidentiality of these records is of utmost importance. Employees must not discuss or share through social media or otherwise individual health information with anyone outside of our agency. 4-15 Confidentiality of Client Information
Any violation of HIPAA regulations may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
