14 Macey Brenner - Defense As a defender for the Saints, Macey has been a member of the Girls’ Lacrosse program for all four years of her high school career, starting on the varsity defense since her sophomore year. She is one of our four captains for this season. During the summers, Macey played for the Maryland United Lacrosse Club, and was also part of the Anne Arundel CrosseOver program, earning recognition as Player of the Match while in England. In addition to her success on the lacrosse field, Macey has been a key part of the Saints field hockey and basketball programs over her time at St. Mary’s, serving as the JV field hockey captain her sophomore year. Macey is a standout in the classroom as well, and is an Honor Roll student maintaining a 3.9 GPA. She has

been recognized as a Crabtree Scholar, is a member of National Honor Society, and received the National Spanish Award. Macey has also been an active member of the St. Mary’s community, holding volunteer and leadership positions in the Lemon Club, SADD, the Ambassador Club, and Student Athletes in Leadership (SAIL). She has organized fundraisers for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, volunteers at Today’s Pantry, and has been a basketball and field hockey camp counselor.When she is not busy with sports, Macey loves boating, travel, skiing, and water sports. Macey will play lacrosse for Fairfield University next year, and has received the Fairfield Loyola Merit Scholarship and athletic scholarship.

Macey was originally a midfielder that we converted to be a defender because of her athleticism. This year we will continue to use Macey on the defensive end as she has a strong presence and great one-on-one defense. Next year Macey will play at Fairfield University. 16 Abby Gendell - Midfield A midfielder for the Saints, Abby Gendell has been part of the lacrosse program all four years at St. Mary’s, with two seasons on the varsity. Abby played club lacrosse for the Integrity Lacrosse Club. Abby’s accomplishments across the St. Mary’s athletics program have earned her the distinction of being an Iron Saint, having played a sport in every season through her years in high school. She will graduate with nine varsity letters and having served as captain of two varsity teams. As a senior, Abby served as captain of the varsity swim team and was the recipient of the team’s Coaches’ Award. As a junior, she was named the varsity swim team’s Unsung Hero. Abby qualified for and represented St. Mary’s at the National Catholic

Swimming Championship meet each of her four years. Additionally, as a senior, Abby served as captain of the varsity cross country team and was the recipient of the team’s Coaches’ Award. During her junior year, Abby was a top finisher in the Saints IAAM conference cross country championship and was named the team’s Unsung Hero. As a dedicated student athlete, Abby’s achievements extend beyond the field and into the community. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has earned a Certificate in Environmental Studies. She is the president of the St. Mary’s Triathlon Club and an officer in SAIL (Student Athletes In Leadership). She is vice president of the Lemon Club (Childhood Cancer Awareness and Fundraising for Research). As a swimmer for the Bay Ridge Marlins since age 7, Abby has continued to pass on her love of swimming as both a coach for the Bay Ridge Marlins and in private lessons. She has also spent considerable time serving her community as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at St. Mary’s Parish and as a volunteer at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Clagett Farm, among other service. Abby is a speedy midfielder with strong stick skills and great vision. She makes smart decisions with the ball, and sets our offense up to make big plays.
